Viggle, a company that has developed a second-screen platform that offers rewards for watching TV shows, said it has eclipsed 3 million registered users after adding 400,000 in May.

Viggle, which counts DirecTV among its customers and GetGlue among its competitors, said “active” users likewise grew 26% in May, to 838,189, with 29% of all registered users considered active in the month. Viggle determines active users by calculating how many registered users have logged into the company’s app at any time during the month.

CNBC shows currently offered on Optimum TV to GO include Squawk Box, Squawk on the Street, Closing Bell, Mad Money w/ Jim Cramer, and American Greed.

More than a third of U.S. sports fans use smartphones to tap into sports content and of those fans, 36% view sports content via their mobile device at least once a day, a new survey found.

Some 44% of fans watch sports on high-definition television, reports the study from Sporting News Media in conjunction with Kantar Media and TV Sports Markets.

Suddenlink Communications said has deployed an upgraded version of Sigma Systems’ Fulfillment Solution that enables the MSO to automate the activation of voice and data services to business customers.

Sigma’s business voice, SIP trunking and data services product provisions Suddenlink’s integrated voice and data access device at the customer premises, and integrates billing, order entry  and service delivery, the companies said, noting that Suddenlink has deployed the upgraded Sigma platform in all service areas.

Six vendors have become the first to achieve qualification from CableLabs for Ethernet Passive Optical Network (EPON) network equipment that applies DOCSIS-style provisioning, the Louisville, Colo.-based R&D consortium announced Monday.  

According to CableLabs, CommScope, Huawei, Sumitomo Electric, and ZTE obtained qualification for DOCSIS Provisioning over EPON (DPoE) systems, while CTDI, Finisar, Huawei and Sumitomo got the stamp for optical network units (ONUs).  Vendors in both categories received qualification for the 1.0 version of the DPoE specifications.
