New York -- Tom Quinn and Jason Janego, copresidents of the Weinstein Co.'s RADiUS multiplatform label, leavened a serious business discussion at the On Demand Summit with an intoxicating blast from the French Riviera.

The pair touted upcoming Cannes competition entry Only God Forgives. After showing the ultra-stylized trailer for the reteaming of Ryan Gosling and his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn, they talked about the strategy behind its premiere in two weeks in Cannes and its day-and-date release in July.

WASHINGTON —In a decision that could have widespread implications for the distribution of TV station signals in an online video world, a three-judge panel of the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has struck a blow for Aereo TV and against broadcasters' argument that the TV-station streaming service violates their copyright protection.

Game of Thrones fans who watch Season 3 replays of the popular HBO series on an Xbox 360 will have a new way to immerse themselves in the show’s sex, violence and dragons -- on a tablet synched with the action on TV.

Microsoft this week is releasing Xbox SmartGlass apps for Game of Thrones, ahead of the Season 3 premiere March 31. The feature works with the HBO Go service on an Xbox, and is available for Apple’s category-leading iPad as well as Windows 8 tablets.

Shortly after Avail-TVN renamed itself Vubiquity, the digital media services firm has announced that founder and CEO Ramu Potarazu will be stepping aside as chief executive to join investor Columbia Capital as a venture partner.

Potarazu will become vice chairman of Vubiquity’s board, and will assume his new roles on April 1. Vubiquity said it has initiated a search for a replacement.

Samsung Electronics America this spring will light up Fox and Univision video apps on its Smart TVs, as it also begins shipping its 2013 line of Internet-enabled sets with a revamped interface that includes -- for the first time -- content recommendations.

The Fox Now “TV Everywhere” app provides access to new episodes of shows the day after they air, available to customers of participating pay TV partners. Currently, AT&T U-verse, Mediacom Communications and Verizon FiOS are the three providers that offer access to the Fox Now app for iOS devices.

Research Firm Finds Clear Correlation Between Twitter Volume and Viewership

While TV shows with a Twitter-happy fan base definitely have higher ratings, it still isn’t clear that heavy tweet traffic actually leads to a bigger audience, according to a new Nielsen study.

Nielsen, along with SocialGuide, evaluated fall 2012 premiere and midseason program ratings across more than 140 broadcast and cable programs. The finding: Twitter volume on the day of broadcast was one of only three variables analyzed -- along with prior-year ratings and advertising spend -- that affected TV ratings in a statistically significant way.

AT&T TV Customers Now Have Online Access to Network’s New Episodes Day After Air

Fox Broadcasting has brought AT&T U-verse into its slowly expanding authentication tent, with the telco’s video subs now able to watch full-length episodes of shows like New Girl and The Simpsons online and on mobile devices the day after they air on TV.

AT&T is the sixth pay TV partner to sign on for Fox’s TV Everywhere service, joining Dish Network, Verizon Communications, Mediacom Communications, Blue Ridge Communications and Cable One.
