TCA Winter 2013: Nat Geo Sets New Military Series
National Geographic Channel will continue to mine the military genre with a new series focusing on elite Air Force pararescue men based in Afghanistan.
The series, Inside Combat Rescue, will for the first time embed cameras with an elite group of rescuers who save critically wounded soldiers in Kandahar, Afghanistan, according to Howard Owens, President of the National Geographic Channels during the network’s TCA presentation Friday.
The announcement follows on the heels of the network’s November Seal Team Six documentary that generated 4.7 million viewers, according to network officials.
Nat Geo also announced that it has teamed with USA Today to create a special Jan. 11 newsstand tabloid edition dedicated to the 125th anniversary of the National Geographic Society. The edition correlates with the same day premiere of a special, A New Age of Exploration: National Geographic at 125,” Owens said.
