SUMMARY

CDSP is seeking a television engineer to be part of , a mobile television production business specializing in horse-racing simulcast production.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  

  • Maintain, repair, and install Broadcast Equipment supporting live sports production in three Mobile Television Units.
  • Set up and tear out of equipment at six racetracks including camera build up, video and audio feeds, signal testing
  • Provide technical support to Unit managers / TV crew in person, via telephone, or email.
  • Order replacement parts, coordinate and track equipment repairs.
  • Plan and provide CATV feeds to over 100 televisions in temporary locations.  i.e Kentucky Derby/Breeder's Cup.
  • Provide support to auxiliary TV productions (local networks, etc)

  

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will have no direct reports.

  

  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in the television production field as an engineer/technician
  • Understanding of both analog and digital electronics (CVBS, SD-SDI and HD-SDI) with ability to troubleshoot to board/component level
  • Working knowledge of Computer Systems and Networks as they relate to a broadcast environment
  • Experience troubleshooting computers across networks.
  • Cable termination - audio, video, data, CATV
  • DVD authoring / file transcoding - Adobe Encore, Grass Valley Edius
  • Systems experience in Production switchers, Audio/Video Routers, Tape Servers, VTR's, Hard Disk Recorders, Audio Consoles, Test Equipment, Intercom/ IFB systems.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel

  

  

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job requires frequent travel around the country sometimes for extended periods such as 2-3 weeks at a time. It also requires hands-on ability to set up all aspects of a mobile television production operation. Weekend and evening work required.

Must be able to climb 50 foot camera towers, lift at least 50lbs, and distinguish colors.
