New Game in Town

WASHINGTON — With the House of Representatives’s key communications and technology subcommittee now headed by a big critic of the Federal Communications Commission’s network-neutrality rules and other cable regulations, MVPDs could get more help in this Congress in their effort to get out from under regulations they argue put a damper on their competitiveness.

 

Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) has been tapped to succeed Rep. Greg Walden (R-Ore.) atop the subcommittee. Walden is the new head of the full Energy & Commerce Committee.

 

Blackburn is former vice chair of the full committee and has been active on communications issues throughout her tenure, including backing legislation that would have invalidated the FCC’s Title II reclassification.
