New at Noon: SportsCenter en Español

The first edition of ESPN Deportes’ signature news and analysis program SportsCenter program is now a great lunchtime companion for those on the East Coast and another commuter choice for West Coasters.

The program now airs weekdays at noon (ET)/9 a.m. (PT). With a greater emphasis on analysis and discussion than other shows, this earlier edition of SportsCenter will showcase the top news from the previous night and preview what’s coming throughout the day.

ESPN Deportes also hopes the early time (11 a.m. in Mexico) will widen the opportunity for in-studio guests and analysts, including ESPN commentators from across the globe.

The noon edition is produced from ESPN’s studios in Mexico City.

“In our efforts to continue expanding our daytime studio programming, we wanted to add a new edition of SportsCenter that brings more commentary and opinion,” Rodolfo Martínez, vice president of production for ESPN Deportes and ESPN International, said. “It is going to be a fresh, different look of the show with the same quality expected from the other SportsCenter editions.”

The show will be anchored by SportsCenter veteran Sergio Dipp and Cristina Alexander, who makes her debut as studio commentator. Dipp, a soccer and NFL expert, is one of the network’s youngest commentators and regularly appears on other studio programming, including ESPN’s soccer-focused Fútbol Picante and Toque Inicial.

Alexander, who speaks Spanish and English, has been serving as an ESPN correspondent in Guadalajara for the past two years, covering first-division Mexican soccer clubs Atlas and Chivas.
