Spike Lines Up 'Factory' Gig
New York — Spike TV is adding its first original comedy series, called Factory and described as a blue-collar show in the vein of The Office and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
Produced by 3 Arts Entertainment (The Office, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Everybody Hates Chris), Factory stars Mitch Rouse, who also directs and produces and is a co-creator of Strangers With Candy, which aired on Comedy Central.
The series follows four friends who covertly try to sabotage each other over a prime new job opening at the factory where they work.
New FX Original Revs Up
Los Angeles — FX is going for a ride with a new series from Kurt Sutter, the executive producer of the network's first original breakout hit, The Shield. FX has placed a 13-episode order for Sons of Anarchy, a dramedy about a notorious outlaw motorcycle club.
The series will be executive-produced by Sutter, Art Linson (Fast Times at Ridgemont High), his son and producing partner John Linson (Lords of Dogtown) and James Parriott (Grey's Anatomy). Fox 21 will co-produce with FX Productions.
FX officials said the network originally ordered the script from Sutter in October 2006, green-lit the pilot last October and completed production on it in March.
G4 Gets Ready to 'Hurl'
Los Angeles — G4 this summer will debut Hurl!, a competition show that may turn the stomachs of viewers as well as contestants.
In the half-hour series, contestants will attempt to consume the largest quantity of food in a short amount of time. They will then immediately be subjected to a series of challenges designed to shake them up. The one holding down his or her food the longest claims bragging rights, the Iron Stomach Award and walks away with a cash prize.
