Date My Ex: Jo & Slade

For fans of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Bravo serves up this predictable spinoff in which ex-housewife Jo De La Rosa pursues her singing career — and a second chance at romance.

The dating-competition series’ premiere finds De La Rosa single in Los Angeles after breaking up with ex-fiancé Slade Smiley. Friends arrange a series of dates for De La Rosa, but with a unique twist: Prospective suitors have to live with Smiley.

The show consists of a bizarre series of back-to-back dates with stereotypical beaus: the ladies man, the businessman who’s full of himself, the romantic heartthrob, and so on.

As the manipulative interrogator, Smiley doesn’t have De La Rosa’s best interest in mind, wanting the suitors to fail so he can have her back. Still, she confides in Smiley about her dates, knowing he is still in love with her.

The series is likely to end with De La Rosa still without true romance. Then she could reunite with Smiley for another series spinoff, “The Wedding: Jo & Slade,” to be followed by a divorce-and-custody-battle series
