Juiced for Metering
(“RE: Verizon CTO: Metered Bandwidth Is Inevitable”, Oct. 7): The most shocking aspect of his statement is how sensible it is. Today, it’s like paying a fixed electrical bill regardless of how many lights you leave on. A lot of confusion is created around net neutrality, but that comes down to your electric company dictating what appliances you can buy. That shouldn’t happen except for compatibility issues (got to be 60Hz, 120v, etc.) Same with broadband — stay compatible, but if someone uses a lot, they naturally pay more.

Lost Without Little Rock
(RE: ACA Wants MSOs to Be Able to Import In-State, Out-of-Market Signals, Oct. 8): Same situation here in Eastern Arkansas. Both of the local cable operators offer the Memphis and Little Rock markets in their offering, yet with satellite we can only receive the Memphis market. The next county over is considered part of the Little Rock market and thus receives Little Rock channels. The Memphis channels totally ignore this part of [Arkansas] for any local/state news, so we have no idea what is going on in our state, but we do get to hear the “Murder of the Day” every day in Memphis.
