Adelphia Defrauder in Apparent Suicide

A man who pled guilty in May to defrauding Adelphia Communications Corp. was found dead in his prison cell early Tuesday morning, The Morning Call reported.

In May, Josepf Steven Horvath, 41, and accomplice Daniel Wirth, 45, both agreed to forfeit more than $1 million garnered through fraudulent contracts arranged between them when Horvath was an information-technology manager for the MSO.

Horvath -- who used the name John Truelove when he worked for Adelphia's office in Buffalo, N.Y. -- was being held in custody in Lehigh County, Pa., where he was also charged with burning down his Upper Saucon Township, Pa., home.

According to the Lehigh County Office of Public Affairs, Horvath was found in his cell at 2:47 a.m. Tuesday with a piece of cloth from a torn T-shirt tied around his neck and to the deck of the upper bunk of his cell, the Allentown, Pa.-based newspaper reported.

He was declared dead at 3:29 a.m. after attempts to revive him by corrections officers and medical staff failed, The Morning Call added.
