Adelphia Goes Hard-Core in Calif.2/03/2005 7:28 AM Eastern
Adelphia Communications Corp. will add hard-core adult films to its pay-per-view offerings in its Southern California systems Friday, AP reported.
The programming -- from Playboy Enterprises Inc. and New Frontier Media Inc. -- is being added in response to subscriber demands, Adelphia spokeswoman Erica Stull told AP.
The explicit films, which will be part of the MSO’s video-on-demand service, can be restricted through parental control, according to AP.
Ironically, Adelphia dropped soft-core pornography channel Spice from the same Southern California systems five years ago because company founder and former chairman John Rigas -- who was found guilty of 18 counts of fraud and conspiracy against the cable operator in July -- considered such programming immoral, according to AP.
