Bay-Area Baseball Goes HD7/29/2004 8:20 AM Eastern
Fox Sports Net Bay Area will close out the 2004 Major League Baseball season with 37 HDTV telecasts of Oakland Athletics and San Francisco Giants games, available on Comcast Corp.'s area system, the network said Thursday.
The regional sports network’s HDTV debut will occur Friday at 7 p.m. (PST), when the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Giants at SBC Park.
The Athletics make their HD debut Saturday when they visit the Texas Rangers at 5 p.m. (PST).
FSN Bay Area will offer viewers a total of 14 Athletics games and 23 Giants contests in HD through season-end.
“Watching A's and Giants baseball in high-definition is the closest thing to being at the ballpark,” FSN Bay Area senior vice president and general manager Jeff Krolik said in a prepared statement.
“We look forward to adding the high-definition experience to our exclusive coverage of the [National Basketball Association’s] Golden State Warriors and [National Hockey League’s] San Jose Sharks this fall,” he added.
