Cablevision Offers TV Globo

Cablevision Systems Corp. has added TV Globo to its international programming lineup.

The channel, featuring news, comedy, talk shows, children's programming, sports and drama created for Brazilians and Portuguese-speaking people around the world, is available to iO TV customers across Cablevision’s service area on channel 277. Deal terms were not disclosed.

TV Globo Internacional, which launched in 1999, is the first Brazilian channel of its kind to broadcast in Portuguese via satellite in digital quality, 24 hours a day to viewers living abroad.  The channel reaches 500,000 subscribers worldwide, in 115 countries on five continents

“Cablevision is pleased to add a new international service, our 12th, to the iO international lineup. TV Globo is our first Brazilian offering, and is another great example of high-quality, in-language programming that is now available to our international customers,” said John Trierweiler, Cablevision senior vice president of product management, in a statement. “We believe that TV Globo will be a popular service among our Brazilian customers, and coupled with Optimum Voice World Call, which allows users to call around the world for one low flat-rate price, makes Cablevision’s international products an outstanding value for our customers.”
