Charter Sponsors Health Expo

Charter Communications Inc. said its St. Louis system hosted more than 30,000 families Jan. 8-9 at its inaugural “Get Hooked on Health Expo.”

Organized by Charter vice president of sales and advertising Paul Sly, the expo brought together St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley. And Major League Baseball Hall of Fame member Ozzie Smith was anointed “Fitness Czar” at the event.

Charter Media televised weekly health and fitness shows, created a Charter “Hooked on Health” interactive Web site (www.gethookedonhealth.com), ran public-service announcements and teamed up with host local health organizations.

The MSO’s programming partners also participated in the event, including Court TV, which took fingerprints from more than 800 children.

In addition, Lifetime Television and Charter underwrote mammography screenings, The Weather Channel handed out sunscreen and Spike TV sponsored screenings for body mass, heart rate, blood pressure and cholesterol.
