Comcast Offers Free Calls To Philippines

To help unite families and friends in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, Comcast will provide free calls to the Philippines for its 10.5 million Xfinity Voice residential customers, the company said in a blog post. This will apply to calls made to the Philippines by customers retroactive to Nov. 8 and until Friday, Nov. 22. Credits and waived fees will be automatic and no action will be required by customers.

"To help our customers stay better connected to news and updates in the aftermath of the storm, we have worked with the Filipino Channel, who has been providing special coverage on the ground in the Philippines, to make its network available at no additional cost to all Xfinity TV digital customers through November 15, in areas where the channel is currently carried," the company added in the blog post. Other operators also have added TFC during this period, and Time Warner Cable earlier said it would waive fees for calls to the Philippines made by its customers. AT&T Wireless also is offering free calls to the region.
