Comcast Speed Upgrades Head West

Comcast said it is boosting Internet speeds with the debut of a new Performance Pro tier of 75 Mbps (downstream) and Blast! Pro, with max speeds of 150 Mbps downstream, in systems serving a dozen states in its West region.

Customers on many "popular" bundles are in line to receive either Performance Pro, increasing their download speeds from 50 Mbps to 75 Mbps, or Blast! Pro, increasing their speeds from 105 Mbps to 150 Mbps, the company said.

Comcast said the speed upgrades are being extended at no additional cost to customers in Arizona, Colorado, Houston, Idaho, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin.

For most customers in those states, they'll get the new Performance Pro speed or Blast! Pro speed tiers by the end of October. They are available to customers in Houston and Washington effective October 9.

To get the new speeds, subs will need to restart their modems, and Comcast will notify those that require new modems for the faster speeds.
