Cox Delivers Padres Games in HD

Cox Cable Channel 4 in San Diego is taking a big swing with high-definition programming this year, as it plans to simulcast 104 of its 145 telecasts of San Diego Padres Major League Baseball games in high-definition.

The games -- beginning with the team’s spring-training contest against the Seattle Mariners April 3 and continuing with its regular-season opener versus the Los Angeles Dodgers April 5 and its home opener three days later at new Petco Park versus the San Francisco Giants -- will be available on channel 704 as part of Cox Communications Inc.’s HD standard lineup.

Cox officials said the HD offerings for the Padres games are the most for any club in any sport.

For its part, Sony Electronics Corp. will equip Petco Park with more than 200 HDTV monitors.
