Cox: E-Mail Woes Resolved

Cox Communications Inc. said its electronic-mail system slowed down for high-speed Internet customers this past week, causing delays of up to 12 hours for some subscribers.

A spokesman said e-mail was back to normal by week’s end, and the cause of the “sluggish” traffic was under investigation.

One possible explanation: Cox installed a new network-based filter to block spam, and that scanning could have been responsible for the delays.
