Cox Fighting Spam Artificially3/15/2004 8:17 AM Eastern
Cox Communications Inc.’s Middle America division has successfully tested and deployed artificial-intelligence-based technology to fight spam, electronic-mail filtering-solutions vendor Corvigo said Monday.
Deployed through systems integrator Pivotal Dynamics Corp., the technology, "Intent-Based Filtering," is deployed inside Corvigo's "MailGate" appliance or integrated into a multimedia-terminal adapter, and it accurately determines the intent of e-mail messages.
"We are glad that Pivotal Dynamics recommended Corvigo to solve our spam problem," Cox Middle America director of Internet-protocol services Jeff Strout said in a prepared statement. "We plugged in the boxes and, in less than 30 days, we reduced the load and increased performance on our mail servers almost by half."
