Godzilla Gets Monsters HD Marathon

Voom HD Networks’ Monsters HD announced that it will air six Godzilla films Tuesday, Aug. 29.

Each film will be digitally remastered in HD and in 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound.

The films: Godzilla Fantasia (1984), airing at 3 p.m.; Godzilla (1954) at 4:30 p.m.; Terror of Mechagodzilla (1975) at 6 p.m.; Godzilla’s Revenge (1969) at 7:30 p.m.; Godzilla vs. Monster Zero (1965) at 9 p.m.; and Godzilla (1985) at 10 p.m.

The sequence is part of the network’s “Japanese Giant Kaiju Fest,” a 24-hour marathon beginning at 6 a.m. “Kaiju” is the Japanese word for “monster.”

Godzilla arose in the aftermath of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The monster first appeared in 1952 as the personification of nuclear weapons and, since then, 28 Godzilla films have been produced.

Monsters HD is a 24-hour channel devoted exclusively to the horror and creature-feature category.
