Mediacom Business Nets Commercial Deal

Mediacom Business has inked a deal to deliver speeds up to 10 Gbps over fiber to commercial buildings owned by R&R Realty Group in the Des Moines, Iowa, metro area.

Mediacom said it will offset construction costs and installation timeframes for R&R Realty Group to deliver service to over 6.3 million square feet of office, flex and industrial space that were previously unserved by the Mediacom Business network.

The deployment is part of a broader plan announced by Mediacom in March to invest $1 billion over the next three years for a number of projects, including “Project Gigabit,” an upgrade and expansion initiative that will bring 1-Gig broadband to “virtually all” of the 3 million homes and businesses in the MSO’s footprint, which covers about 1,500 communities in 22 states.

“Our agreement with R&R Realty Group kicks off a companywide initiative to proactively connect more businesses to our network known as Project Open Road,” Ed Pardini, SVP of field operations for Mediacom, said in a statement. “Once complete, we will be able to bring up to 10-Gig speeds right to the doorsteps of the R&R Realty buildings located in the Des Moines Metro Area, providing their tenants with a choice for high-capacity broadband.”
