Microtune Posts 4Q Revenue Gain2/28/2005 9:49 AM Eastern
Microtune Inc. posted fourth-quarter net revenue of $15.4 million, up nearly 45% versus the prior-year period and down 5% versus the third quarter of 2004.
The vendor’s net income for the period was $2.1 million, which included $1.1 million in foreign-currency-translation gains.
Microtune added that one of its fourth-quarter highlights was the decision by Scientific-Atlanta Inc. to deploy its “MicroTuner MT2121” analog/digital silicon tuner in its “Explorer 8300 series” set-tops.
“Although we are experiencing several quarters of market softness and revenue challenges, Microtune will continue to invest in new-product development and customer relationships," CEO James A. Fontaine said in a prepared statement.
"By remaining focused on our core business, by managing our assets and operations conservatively and by exploiting emerging market opportunities, I remain optimistic about Microtune's long-term future,” he added.
