Atlanta— Over the past two weeks, N2Broadband has sold software products into Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and A&E Television Networks for advanced TV and video-on-demand applications.

Turner plans to use a variety of N2 products in a newly created platform research and development lab. At the same time, N2 named Turner chief technology officer Scott Teissler to its board.

Turner plans to use N2’s OpenStream platform, plus its Xport producer, Xport streamer, MediaPath, MediaPoint and AdPoint systems.

In a statement, Teissler said Turner plans to test advertising and news on demand, plus on-demand menu applications, on a single, standards-based platform.

Turner’s new research-and-development lab is designed to evaluate current and next-generation distribution technologies.

A&E plans to use Xport to support in house production of VOD content.

“N2 Broadband’s Xport enables us to more easily prepare our content for on demand use,” AETN senior vice president of affiliate sales and marketing David Zagin said in a statement.

The software allows programs to perform one-click encoding, create Cable Television Laboratories Inc.-compliant metadata, and edit and prepare content for VOD servers.

N2 said Xport has been deployed by programmers in more than 30 locations.
