NBA TV Receives Assist From NewTek For Live Production Of D-League Showcase

NBA D League players won't be the only ones putting their talents on display during next week's upcoming showcase event.
For the first time, NBA TV will televise seven live games from the NBA Development League Showcase, using the TriCaster HD portable production system from NewTek.
Cost-efficient, lightweight and easy to operate, NewTek TriCaster is currently used by NBA D-League teams to deliver live video Webcasts of every game throughout the season via NBA Futurecast on NBA.com/futurecast.
However, the equipment, which will be stationed at mid court, obviates the need for a series of camera crews and the renting of full-fledged mobile production truck to be at the Boise's Qwest Arena, home of the Idaho Stampede, where the games will air from Jan. 4 through Jan. 7.
NBA officials said the event marks the first time a live HD sports broadcast has been produced with the new TCXD300 model, which Newtek began shipping earlier this month for a base price just under $15,000.
The Showcase, which provides exposure for D-League players and coaches to NBA general managers and scouts, includes all 16 NBA D-League teams playing a pair of games. The contests not broadcast live by NBA TV will be streamed live for free on NBA.com/futurecast; the televised tilts will be available in on-demand form the day after air.
The schedule of live D-League Showcase games on NBA TV is as follows:
