New York Subs to Get Free VOD

Time Warner Cable will launch its free “DTV On Demand” programming tier in New York City and New Jersey on Jan. 5.

The on-demand content, already available on most other Time Warner systems nationwide, is free to all digital cable customers. It includes programming from BBC America, AOL Music, Cable News Network, Home & Garden Television, Golf Channel, A&E Networks, G4TechTV, Comedy Central, Do It Yourself, Food Network and Court TV.

The DTV On Demand content, available to 1.4 million Time Warner customers in Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and Brooklyn, N.Y.; Orange, Sullivan and Ulster Counties in New York state; and Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey, includes:

  • A&E on Demand: content from A&E Network, Biography Channel and History Channel.

  • AOL Music on Demand: music videos and weekly concerts from AOL Music Live.

  • BBC America on Demand: programs such as Changing Rooms, Ground Force America, Absolutely Fabulous and Keeping Up Appearances.

  • Comedy Central on Demand: South Park, Crank Yankers and other shows from the channel.

  • Food Network on Demand: Essence of Emeril and recipes from Wolfgang Puck, Bobby Flay and other celebrity chefs.

  • Kids on Demand: Programming from PBS, BBC America, Cartoon Network and In Demand.

  • Special Events On Demand: Seasonal VOD programming, including sports, news features and concerts.
