Porn Pays for New Frontier

Fiscal-first-quarter operating income at New Frontier Media Inc. rose 70% to $3.9 million from $2.3 million in the quarter ended June 30, 2003, the company announced Thursday.

The adult-entertainment provider posted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and non-content-related amortization of $4.3 million versus $2.8 million in the year-earlier period, a 54% gain.

Revenue rose 14% to $11.5 million from $10.1 million in the previous-year quarter.

Net income jumped 35% to $2.7 million from $2 million in the year-ago period.

“We are very pleased with our first-quarter results,” CEO Michael Weiner said in a prepared statement. “This represents our sixth consecutive quarter of profitability.”
