Schremp Out At Charter

Charter Communications announced Monday that Ted Schremp, executive vice president of operations and marketing, is leaving the company for personal reasons.

Reached via e-mail, Schremp said he "needed some time off to focus on family and my personal life."

"I came to Charter almost six years ago, and as a team we have achieved a lot together," Schremp said. "I intend to take about a year off to travel, enjoy my family and just take some time to smell the roses a bit."

Schremp joined Charter in 2005 to run the MSO's phone unit and was named chief marketing officer in 2008. Under president and CEO Mike Lovett, Schremp was promoted in January to also oversee customer experience transformation, customer care, operations, communications and human resources.

In a statement, the company said, "Charter's leadership team thanks him for his many contributions over the past five years and wishes him well."

Charter didn't indicate whether it will seek a replacement for Schremp.

The St. Louis-based operator said it has "experienced operations, customer care and marketing teams in place," led by Steve Apodaca, president of Charter Operations; Allan Samson, senior vice president of integrated marketing; and John Birrer, senior vice president of customer experience, who was previously head of customer loyalty at T-Mobile.

Charter is scheduled to report 2010 operational and financial results on Tuesday, March 1.
