Service Electric Reaches Deals With Fox, WNEP

Service Electric Cablevision, a midsize cable operator serving 100,000 subscribers in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, averted New Year’s Day blackouts by striking separate programming deals with Fox Networks and WNEP.

Terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Service Electric’s agreement with Fox Networks includes retransmission consent for affected WTXF (Fox 29 in Philadelphia) and WWOR (My9 in Seacaucus) and full networks including BTN, Fox College Sports, Fox Deportes, Fox Movie Channel, Fox Soccer Channel, Fuel TV, FX, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo Wild, Speed, Nat Geo Mundo and Utilisima.

In a statement Monday evening, Fox said, "We are delighted that an agreement was reached without any service interruption for SECV customers and their loyal Fox viewers."

Separately, WNEP -- the ABC affiliate serving Wilkes-Barre and Scranton, Pa. -- and Service Electric reached a retransmission consent agreement on Saturday, Dec. 29, according to a statement on the TV station’s website.

WNEP previously had complained that "Service Electric Cablevision/CATV says WNEP isn’t worth 4 cents a day for all of our local programming and content."
