Time Warner Taps Motorola CMTS

Motorola Inc. announced that Time Warner Cable has approved its "BSR 64000" Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 1.1 Internet-protocol router for deployment in its cable systems across the country.

The first deployment is slated for San Diego.

"As TWC continues to advance its high-speed-data offering and begins to provide advanced voice services, there is an increased need for next-generation, high-availability CMTS [units] with advanced routing," said Jeff King, executive vice president of Time Warner Cable Network Services and president of Road Runner, in a prepared statement.

"To date, the Motorola BSR 64000 is the only high-density CMTS approved by TWC, and it will provide us with the ability to cost-effectively deploy services and support customers," he added.
