TWC, Bright House Subs Can Watch Three More ESPN Nets Online1/25/2011 6:38 AM Eastern
Time Warner Cable and Bright House Networks customers starting Jan. 25 will be able to watch live simulcasts of ESPN2, ESPNU and college hoops highlight channel ESPN Buzzer Beater on their computers -- if they have a cable TV subscription package that includes those channels.
TWC and Bright House customers already have similar access to ESPN and ESPN3.com online. Time Warner Cable added them in October, while Bright House did so in November, under a larger agreement between the MSOs and Disney/ABC Television and ESPN.
As with other "TV Everywhere" services propagating through the industry, the ESPN authenticated services are available only to customers who pay for a cable TV tier that includes the network. For example, Time Warner Cable offers Buzzer Beater as part of the Sports Pass optional package.
Originally, the companies expected to debut the online simulcasts of ESPN2, ESPNU, Buzzer Beater -- as well as the now out-of-season college football highlights service, Goal Line -- in early December.
All four live feeds -- ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN Buzzer Beater -- are accessible through ESPNnetworks.com, which also links to ESPN3.com. Authenticated users can view two channels using picture-in-picture or simultaneous viewing of more than one channel. ESPN expects to add access to the live channels through certain other Internet-enabled devices such as mobile phones and tablets.
To access the channels, Time Warner Cable customers can register at http://myservices.timewarnercable.com and Bright House Networks subscribes should visit www.brighthouse.com/myservices. Customers can also go directly to ESPNnetworks.com to register or sign in and view the programming.
Verizon FiOS TV customers will be getting access soon to the authenticated live feeds, according to ESPN.
