Webinar To Tackle Programming Impact of Comcast/TWC Merger

Multichannel News will tackle the issue of the programming impact of the Comcast/Time Warne Cable merger in a timely webinar May 27 at 2 p.m. entitled “Comcast/Time Warner Cable: What Does It Mean For Programmers.”

Multichannel News senior finance editor Mike Farrell will moderate a lively discussion with three top industry players – Telsey Advisory Group media analyst Tom Eagan, American Cable Association senior vice president, government affairs Ross Lieberman and independent network Veria Living CEO and industry veteran Eric Sherman

The $69 billion Comcast/TWC merger has the potential to transform the distribution landscape, creating a 30-million subscriber behemoth with a near national footprint. In addition, a separate deal to sell, swap and spin another 5.9 million customers will double Charter Communications owned and managed footprint to 8.2 million subscribers. While most of the debate around the merger has concerned broadband issues and net neutrality, the merger could have a profound effect on programming by creating a more powerful negotiator in the combined company. Smaller operators could feel the pinch as programmers seek to take up the slack by increasing their rates.
