WOW's Colleen Abdoulah To Chair ACA Board

SAN FRANCISCO —
WideOpenWest chairwoman
and CEO Colleen Abdoulah
was elected to succeed
Wave Broadband chief operating
officer Steve Friedman
as chair of the American
Cable Association, the trade
group representing small and
midsized cable operators.

Abdoulah, who has been
vice chair, has been a prominent
voice for ACA in Washington,
D.C., including in testimony
on Capitol Hill about
retransmission consent and
the Comcast-NBCUniversal
merger.

Board member Robert
Gessner, president of Massillon
Cable TV, succeeds
Abdoulah as vice chairman.
Newly elected to the board
were James Beattie, assistant
general counsel at Bevcomm;
Bryan Cipoletti, chief financial
officer at Armstrong Holdings;
Earle MacKenzie, COO at Shentel;
and Scott Widham, CEO of
Cobridge Communications.

The ACA’s board met ahead
of the Independent Show, the
combined convention of the
ACA and the National Cable
Television Cooperative.
