Top A&E Television Networks executives expressed their feelings about Christopher Reeve, who died Sunday at the age of 52.
Reeve went into cardiac arrest Saturday at his home in Westchester County, N.Y., after developing a serious systemic infection during treatment for a pressure wound, according to cnn.com (www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/10/11/obit.reeve/index.html). He slipped into a coma and died Sunday afternoon at a nearby hospital.
“All of us at A&E Network are deeply saddened by the death of Christopher Reeve. Our thoughts and prayers are sent to Dana Reeves and their family,” A&E Network CEO Nick Davatzes and A&E Network president Abbe Raven said in a prepared statement.
“We knew Chris as the consummate professional director who brought the remarkable story of Brooke Ellison to our network,” they added. “His passion and commitment to this project, as well as his championing of the disabled through the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation, will have a lasting impact on millions of lives. Everyone at A&E feels fortunate that we were able to share a small part in the life of this extraordinary man.”
