BET Tuesday night continued its strong weekly ratings run with the debut of original movie Being Mary Jane, which garnered 4 million viewers, according to the network.

The 90-minute movie, starring Gabrielle Union (pictured) as a TV journalist trying to balance her professional and personal life, also generated over 455,000 social interactions during its 10:30 p.m. to midnight airing, peaking at 11,000 tweets-per-minute towards the end of the movie.

Being Mary Jane will return as a series for BET in 2014, said network officials.

The mid-season return of dramedy series The Game drew 3.6 million viewers at 10 p.m., according to the network.

BET's Tuesday night ratings numbers follows the performance of Sunday's BET Awards telecast, which averaged 7.7 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
