Cable Onda Broadens Deal With TiVo

TiVo said Panama’s Cable Onda has expanded its agreement to include TiVo’s latest multi-room gateway DVR products.  

They said the resulting product set will weave in access to OTT content from Netflix, YouTube and others, and that the improvements will also enable Cable Onda customers on the legacy Passport Guide will also get upgrades that include improved VOD discovery and replay/restart and network DVR capabilities.

TiVo’s noted that its new Discovery Dashboard is designed as an add-on app for Passport Guide HD 7.0 that delivers a more graphically rich interface and a VOD system that operators can customize by categories such as what’s trending, new to the VOD platform, as well as top movies and TV shows.

“We are very excited to introduce TiVo’s next-generation DVR solutions to our Panamanian customers. We are always looking for new ways to leverage the most innovative advancements and with this upgrade, we’re able to improve functionality and provide advanced features like 4K and leading OTT content,” said Michael Maduro, vice president, Cable Onda, in a statement.

 TiVo’s latest Gateway DVR supports 4K video and can be linked up with tablets and smartphones.

At the end of Q1, TiVo said about 23 million subs worldwide use TiVo’s “advanced” TV platform/experience.
