Cable One, Turner Reach a DealProcess Of Restoring Turner Channels ‘May Take Several Days to Complete’ 10/25/2013 10:41 PM Eastern
Cable One said Friday it has reached a deal with Turner Broadcasting System restore the operator’s carriage of CNN, CNN en Espanol, HLN, Turner Classic Movies, TNT, TBS, Cartoon Network, truTV, and Boomerang.
Terms were not disclosed, but the process of restoring the Turner channels will begin immediately but could take several days to complete, Cable One said.
The new pact comes more than three weeks after Cable One deauthorized signals for three networks – TBS, TNT and Cartoon Network. The mid-sized operator believed it had secured carriage rights to the networks via a separate deal made through the National Cable Television Cooperative, but was informed by Turner that it had to cut off access to them as well.
During the fight, Cable One, which serves 720,000 video, voice and data subscribers in 19 states, claimed that Turner had demanded an increase of nearly 50% for channels, while Turner argued that it was asking the MSO to pay the established and accepted rates already in the marketplace for its portfolio.
"We're pleased to be able to restore these channels to our customers, and appreciate their patience and loyalty,” Cable One CEO Tom Might said in a statement.
For its part, the programmer issued the following comments: "Turner Broadcasting has come to an agreement with Cable One for the continued carriage of our leading entertainment, news, kids and young adult networks including TNT, TBS, CNN, HLN, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, truTV, Turner Classic Movies (TCM), CNN en Español and Boomerang. We value the relationships with our viewers and thank them for their understanding. We’re grateful for their continued loyalty and support for Turner’s programming and brands."
“Cable ONE has told me they are very pleased that the dispute was resolved to the mutual satisfaction of both parties," American Cable Association president and CEO Matthew Polka said in a statement released on Saturday evening. "Cable ONE has also told me that they are very pleased with their October results. I hope we can learn more about that."
