California Channel’s Hancock on the Mend

The president of California Channel, who was gravely injured when another car crashed head-on into the car he was driving May 20, is recuperating from his injuries and has been moved from the hospital to a skilled nursing facility.

The accident broke John Hancock's legs, arms and pelvis. To aid in his healing, doctors initially put him in a chemical-induced coma.

Dennis Mangers, president of the California Cable & Telecommunications Association, said Hancock is now fully conscious and his staff is even bringing work to him in the facility. He faces a long convalescence: He's had one hip replaced and needs more surgeries, Mangers reported.

"He's our miracle boy," he added.

Hancock can receive mail at the Eskaton Care Center, 455 Florin Rd., Sacramento, Calif., 95831.
