The Boston Celtics' Game 7 victory Saturday night over the Chicago Bulls dunked the highest ratings in the 28-year history of the regional sports network and its predecessor in New England.

Comcast SportsNet New England averaged a 10.1 rating and 484,000 homes for the May 2 telecast, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The performance easily eclipsed the mark the network set for Game 6 on April 30, the triple overtime loss for Boston, which scored an 8.2 rating and 360,800 homes.

Saturday's night win, which pushed the Celtics into second round of the National Basketball Association playoffs against the Orlando Magic, peaked with a 16.6 rating and 730,400 homes.
Boston-Chicago was the highest rated sports or non-sports rated program of the evening, out-rating both the Kentucky Derby (7.7) on NBC and the Boston Red Sox (8.6) on NESN. CSN's telecast bested TNT's telecast which earned a 7.2 rating in the Boston DMA, said officials at the RSN.
For the six games it televised during the series, Comcast SportsNet averaged an estimated 7.3 rating and 321,200 homes in New England, outperforming TNT and ESPN by 66%, according to CSN NE executives.
