CES 2017: TV Brand Trio Sparks Up ‘Fire TV Edition’ 4K Models

Presenting some fresh competition to Google’s Android TV and Roku in the smart TV sector, Seiki, Westinghouse Electronics and Element Electronics – TV brands from China’s Tongfang Global -- will use CES 2017 to unveil the first 4K Ultra ... have announced a line of 4K TVs that will bake in Amazon’s Fire TV platform.

 

Those new Amazon Fire TV edition models will also support an integrated guide, voice remotes powered by Amazon Alexa and present a platform that, they said, will offer access to more than 7,000 channels, apps and Alexa “skills.”

Seiki, Westinghouse and Element are rolling out Fire TV-based 4K TVs with screen sizes of 43 inches, 50 inches, 55 inches and 65 inches, 3 gigabytes of memory and 16 GB of internal storage, and integrated Bluetooth, WiFi and Ethernet connectivity.

 

Pricing on those models haven’t been announced yet, but the trio expects to start selling Fire TV Edition models later this year at Amazon.com and at select national retailers later this year.

 

Seiki and Westinghouse will demo new models at tonight’s CES 2017 Unveiled event.

 

Roku’s integrated TV partners include Element Electronics, TCL, Hitachi America, Haier America, Sharp, Insignia (Best Buy’s in-house brand), and Hisense. Sharp and Sony make TVs that utilize Google’s Android TV OS.

 

"Teaming up with brands including Seiki, Westinghouse and Element on a new range of smart TVs allows Amazon to deliver an experience that's familiar and easy to use," Marc Whitten, vice president, Amazon Fire TV, said in a statement. "Fire TV Edition offers access to a great selection of streaming and over-the-air TV and movies, Alexa for easy voice search and content control, and the many other features and experiences customers have come to expect from the best-selling line of Amazon Fire TV products."
