CMT Names Country Fried Host

CMT signed up comedian Bill Engvall as host for its new half-hour series, Country Fried Home Videos, officials said Tuesday.

The series premieres June 30 at 9 p.m., and its nine episodes will features real home videos shot by real people, showing what real Americans do for fun.

Country Fried Home Videos originally premiered on CMT as a half-hour special last March.

Fans interested in submitting their very own “country fried” home movies can go to the network’s Web site (www.cmt.com), where they can also check out the best full-length clips from each week’s episode.

Bill Engvall is one of the members of the “Blue Collar Comedy Tour.” He’s also a platinum-selling recording artist, and his first CD, Here’s Your Sign, was one of the best-selling comedy albums of the past decade.

Engvall co-starred in Blue Collar TV and is starring in the movie Delta Farce with Larry the Cable Guy, which will be released in the first quarter of 2007.

In other CMT news, the network will air three one-hour concert specials from Milwaukee’s Summerfest.

Toyota Presents CMT at Summerfest 2006 will air July 14-16 at 8 p.m. (EST/PST) and features a different artist each night -- Hank Williams Jr., Lynyrd Skynyrd and Dierks Bentley.
