CMT Pays You to Watch Dukes

Country Music Television is looking for the “authority on all things The Dukes of Hazzard.”

The network said it will hire a vice president for its “CMT Dukes of Hazzard Institute,” who will receive a six-figure income.

CMT is placing recruitment ads in national magazines and newspapers, conducting interviews at job fairs and posting online job on Web sites such as Monster.com (www.monster.com), CareerBuilder.com (www.careerbuilder.com) and Showbizjobs.com (www.showbizjobs.com).

The network said job responsibilities include: watching The Dukes of Hazzard every weeknight on CMT; knowing the words to the show’s theme song, “Good Ol’ Boys,” written and performed by Waylon Jennings; serving as CMT’s media expert for The Dukes of Hazzard; writing an online blog about the series for CMT.com (www.cmt.com); and appearing at special events such as “Dukesfest 2005” in Bristol, Tenn., June 4-5.

“Now that CMT is home to the original The Dukes of Hazzard series, it would be foolish to do business without a dedicated expert,” vice president of creative and marketing James Hitchcock said in a prepared statement.

“An executive search is being conducted to find that perfect person, someone who knows and loves The Dukes of Hazzard and is willing to dedicate a year of his or her life to becoming a Dukes of Hazzard aficionado; someone who was born to be the vice president of the CMT Dukes of Hazzard Institute,” he added.
