CNN said it has made its eight-part original series, Soundtracks: Songs that Defined History, available on its CNNgo app without the need for a pay TV subscription.

Unauthenticated access means that anyone with the app can view the series, which was exec produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson along with Dany Garcia (Seven Bucks Productions) and Emmy and Peabody Award winners Maro Chermayeff and Jeff Dupre (Show of Force).

Soundtracks: Songs that Defined History are available via CNNgo on multiple platforms, including web browsers (CNN.com/go) and apps for Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire, Samsung smart TVs, Android TVs and iOS and Android mobile devices.

CNN is also making the series available via VOD from cable and satellite pay TV partners and is also being sold on iTunes.

CNN’s Soundtracks series features rare archival footage and interviews with musicians, journalists, historians and other notable figures that include Billy Joel, Smokey Robinson, Andra Day, Pat Benatar, Patti LaBelle, Ben Harper, Paul Simon, Melissa Etheridge, Master P, George Clinton, Anderson Cooper, Van Jones, Dan Rather, Billie Jean King, Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and Reverend Al Sharpton, among others.
