Comcast Launches LGBT VOD Package

In recognition of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Pride Month, Comcast has introduced a collection of LGBT programming, including movies, biographical films, documentaries and TV shows, on a variety of VOD platforms.

Through June 30, Comcast will make the collection available to customers on its set-top VOD platform, the Xfinity TV app for the Xbox 360, and via the Web at Xfinity.com and XfinityTV.com. A new dedicated online destination for the LGBT community is available at Xfinity.com/LGBT. Comcast has had an LGBT destination folder on the Xfinity On Demand menu since last year, Comcast said. The MSO has also a free VOD preview under way of Here TV content, through June 7.

Examples of movies offered via the LGBT package early on include HBO’s Behind the Candelabra, A Single Man, The Birdcage, Hedwig and the Angry Inch and Kissing Jessica Stein.

“Xfinity is proud to offer a unique and welcoming online destination, specifically designed for the LGBT community, making relevant content much easier to find, watch and enjoy,” Ruben Mendiola, vice president and general manager of Multicultural Video Services, said in a release.
