Sarah Silverman will star in a sketch/variety pilot for Comedy Central, the network announced Friday.
The comedian will play “a detached and eccentric woman with no discernible goals whose tale will be told through an array of comedic scenes and songs that, taken as a whole, compose a single day of her life,” the network said in a prepared statement.
Shooting on the pilot will begin late this summer, Comedy said.
Silverman recently completed the film version of her one-woman show, Jesus Is Magic, and she will appear documentary feature The Aristocrats, set for a June release. She also starred with Jack Black, Mike White and Joan Cusack in Paramount Pictures' School of Rock.
“Sarah is a tremendous talent with a truly unique outlook on the world around her," Comedy Central senior vice president of original programming and head of development Lauren Corrao said in a prepared statement. “We've been searching for a distinctive female voice that feels right at home with our male-dominated audience on Comedy Central."
