'Deadliest Catch' Captain Phil Harris Dies

Discovery Channel's Deadliest Catch has lost its captain, as Phil Harris died from complications from a stroke. He was 53.
Discovery, in what is one of its most popular shows over five seasons, chronicled the dangerous work Harris and his crew performed off the shores of Alaska.
In a statement, Discovery Channel spokeswoman Elizabeth Hillman said:"Phil was a devoted father and loyal friend to all who knew him. We will miss his straightforward honesty, wicked sense of humor and enormous heart."
His sons Josh and Jake Harris issued the following statement: "It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dad, Captain Phil Harris. Dad has always been a fighter and continued to be until the end. For us and the crew, he was someone who never backed down."
According to the Associated Press, Harris sustained a massive stroke on Jan. 29, while his fishing vessel, Cornelia Maria, was in port at St. Paul Island, Harris was flown to Anchorage for surgery.
