Dexter Moves Laboratory to Boomerang

1/12/2006 3:16 AM Eastern

Cartoon Network’s first original series will join spinoff service Boomerang’s lineup Monday.

Dexter’s Laboratory, created in 1995 by animator Genndy Tartakovsky (Emmy Award-winning Samurai Jack, Star Wars: Clone Wars), will make its Boomerang debut with a 12-hour marathon on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, running from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. (EST).

The half-hour series will then move into its regularly scheduled daily time slots of 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. the next day.

Dexter will also serve as Boomerang’s January “Character of the Month” starting Saturday, Jan. 21.

Dexter’s Laboratory was a ratings hit on Cartoon Network during its initial run that also received four back-to-back primetime Emmy Award nominations (1995-98) for ‘Outstanding Animated Program,’” Cartoon and Boomerang vice president of programming and scheduling Marc Buhaj said in a prepared statement.

“This new showcase on Boomerang will introduce the show to a brand-new generation of viewers,” he added. “It’s entirely appropriate that Dexter’s Laboratory take its rightful place alongside such revered animated series as The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Tom and Jerry and Scooby-Doo.”
