Discovery en Español Posts Highest 1Q on RecordProgrammer Claims Victory On Sunday Nights 4/18/2013 11:24 AM Eastern
Discovery en Español achieved its highest first quarter on record and became the #1 Hispanic pay-TV network on Sundays during primetime among the coveted 18-49 demo. Citing Nielsen figures, the network this week is also reporting that 1Q 2013 results represented the fifth consecutive quarter in which Discovery en Español posted year-over-year quarterly growth.
Also posting solid audience numbers during the first quarter was its younger sister network, Discovery Familia, which reported a 144% growth, compared to the first quarter of 2012 (also among Hispanics 18-49 during primetime.) The network also grew its viewership 100% among its core target: Hispanic women ages 18-49 during prime time (7-11 p.m.) and 31% during total day, placing it among the top three Hispanic cable networks with W18-49 during total day.
“The consistent growth of our performance results demonstrates the strong and enduring relationship both Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia have with the Hispanic audience,” Ivan Bargueiras, general manager of the Discovery U.S. Hispanic networks, said in a release.
Discovery U.S. Hispanic will be holding its 2013-2014 upfront presentation on May 14 at Gotham Hall in New York City. This year’s upfront theme, Feel, focuses on the emotional connection between the networks and their audience.
