Dish Music App Spreads Beats to Hopper DVRs, Joey Clients

Dish Network has introduced Dish Music, a mobile app that lets customers sync music to multiple rooms that utilize TV audio systems that are linked to the pay TV provider’s Hopper 2 and Hopper 3 DVRs, as well as connected Joey client devices.

The mobile app, powered by DTS Play-Fi technology and offered via Google Play, the Apple app store and the Amazon app marketplace, is compatible with several streaming music services, including Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, Napster, SiriusXM, Pandora and Tidal.

Customers also have the ability to use the app to control different streaming music zones in thehosuehold. TVs connected to supported DVRs and clients will also display information about the music being played, including data abuot the artists, the song title and the music service being accessed.

Dish said the approach keeps costs in check because the app is free to subscribers and works with existing audio equipment.

However, Dish Music can also pair wirelessly with DTS Play-Fi-enabled speakers made by companies such as Klipsch, Sonus, Wren and others that are connected to the same wireless network.
