Disney Channel will celebrate Black History Month this February with a series of interstitials focusing on the dreams and aspirations of young boys and girls.

The interstitials – part of the network’s This Is Me initiative that celebrates the uniqueness of every day kids -- will launch Feb. 1 on Disney Channel and will feature tweens and young adults discussing their favorite heroes, sources of inspiration and dreams for the future in recognition of Black History Month, said network officials. The interstitials will run throughout the month of February.

"These interstitials are a great way for kids to celebrate Black History Month with their peers and share how their heroes continue to inspire and empower them to dream big," said Ron Pomerantz, Vice President, Marketing and Creative, Disney Channel.

The network Friday (Feb. 1) will also run a special episode of its original series A.N.T. Farm in which series star China Anne McClain takes a dream journey back in time where she becomes famous African American music icons from the past in an effort to help her develop a Black History Month presentation for school, said network officials.
