Epix Heads to Apple TV

Epix said it has launched an authenticated TV Everywhere app for the Apple TV (fourth generation) that supports the premium programmer’s live feeds and VOD library.

The app, which offers Epix original series such as Berlin Station and Graves, also factors in some features such as “content-forward,” which lets users watch a multiplex of Epix live linear channels, the ability to add titles to a personal queue, free samples of Epix content, curated content collections and movie trailers.

To prime the pump on the platform, new subs can get a free four-week trial of the app exclusively on Apple TV, the programmer said.

“EPIX was created in anticipation of the digital revolution, launching with more content across more devices than any other network,” Mark Greenberg, Epix president and CEO, said in a statement. “Apple has been a renowned leader in shaping the digital landscape and I’m proud to make our content available on Apple TV.”

Apple TV adds to an authenticated app mix for Epix that also includes iOS and Android mobile devices, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, the Google Chromecast, Roku players, and Android TV devices.

Atlantic Broadband is the first MVPD to support the Epix app on TiVo-powered devices.

Epix, a joint venture of Viacom/Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate and MGM Studios, has about 15 million subscribers, according to SNL Kagan.
